Ghost - Second Time Around (1992)

no, not THAT Ghost, but a Japanese psychedelic space rock band that released 8(?) albums since 1990. acoustic guitars, effects, shifting time-signatures, and possible half Engrish/half Japanese (no, not the band) lyrics. pretty amazing stuff, makes Hawkwind look tame in comparison, and I like Hawkwind a lot.

definitely worth your time if you're a prog/psych fan like me.

Jerusalem - Jerusalem (1972)

part of the glut of Sabbath-era proto-metal bands, this overlooked gem reminds me of the lighter parts of the aformentioned Black Sabbath being crossed with the best of Jethro Tull, sans flute, and a bit of John Kay of Steppenwolf in the vocal department. very bluesy, somewhat both within its time and ahead, its a crime that these guys aren't the prog-archives site as they rightfully should be.

Goblin - Suspiria (1977)

In celebration of Robert Moog's 78th birthday, here's an album that was the soundtrack for the Italian Giallo film Suspiria, by the group Goblin. really creepy stuff, lots of synths and stuff, some jazzy/funk moments later on. sort of reminding of early industrial at times. one of the few RPI groups I like.

Nihilist Spasm Band - No Record

found this gem through a friend posting on facebook, really disjointed stuff, sounds like each instrument is playing a different tune. I like it, and hope you will too.

Yezda Urfa - Sacred Baboon

similar to late 60s Yes in both sound and presentation, perhaps a bit more frantic, this is the direction they should have gone in the 80s instead of pandering to the crowd that bought "No Jacket Required".

(note: just found this was really recorded in 1976. oh well)

and just because I'm being nice, here's Heatwave, from 1986

Univers Zero - Heatwave

Univers Zero - Ceux Du Dehors

one of the best recorded pieces of music from this Belgian RIO/Avant-Prog group. along with Heatwave made me a fan. weird mix of 60s spy thriller music and musique concrete pieces.

Pavor - Furioso

I got recommended this album today by a hopeful contributor to Intentional Shart, Van Buens Ende was mentioned in passing as a reference but have heard neither til today. pretty good progressive death/black metal in the Gorguts/Deathspell Omega vein, just weirder. nothing catchy here, which is why I'm uploading it.
